For years, the Toyota Corolla has been the award-winning sibling of the Camry, and traditional and safe favorite. For the new generation, however, Toyota opted to do something a little, or a lot, different.
Completely redesigned from inside to out, the 2014 Toyota Corolla is now a sedan model all its own, offering drivers a unique, sporty feel that has reviews and drivers everywhere showing their love.
Three inches longer and full of great features, the new Corolla is everything that a young family or in-town commuter could want, with style to spare.
Consumer Reports loves it, saying, “The newest Corolla is right on target—quiet, roomy, economical, and comfortable-riding—and it’s finally more interesting to look at and to drive. The Corolla also brings pretty good value. We expect it to prove competitive when we rank it against its peers.”
The L, LE and S trim Corollas have a 1.8 L four cylinder engine that pulls 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque, while the optional Eco trim on the LE has the same size engine, but with Valvematic, which increases engine output by more than 5%, bringing the horsepower to up to 140. The L model uses either 4-speed automatic or a 6[speed manual transmission, while the LE, S and LE Eco models use a new CVT that mimics the feel of a traditional transmission by mimicking seven gear ratios.
Inside, the Corolla now has better quality materials and a two-tiered design that creates the impression of having more space. The back-seats enjoy longer seat cushions and more legroom, too.
When it comes to features, the Corolla has stepped out of it’s role as a “base-model” sedan, bringing in features to rival it’s big sister. Standard LED low-beam headlights and LED daytime running lights, 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, power locks, doors and mirrors, AC, Bluetooth and eight airbags are the highlights of the starting level L model, while the LE, S and LE Eco have options such as a smart key system with push button start, automatic climate control, leather trimmed tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a multi informational display with the Entune infotainment system, steering wheel paddle shifter s and audio controls , and SofTex-trimmed heated front seat.
It’s an all-new Corolla, and if you haven’t tried one yet it’s time you see what all the raving is about. Toyota of Killeen has a great selection of new and used Toyota models, and our Corolla experts are always available to make sure that you get the right car for you.
