2015 Toyota Avalon Review

The 2015 Toyota Avalon is one of the best options on the market for those looking for a larger sedan that can comfortably fit their family as well as a good amount of cargo. The cabin is spacious and the seats comfortable.

Whether you go with the standard engine or the hybrid option, the Avalon is a great option. It is also versatile, working just as well for families as for individuals. This incredibly comfortable car is well worth your consideration when looking to lease or buy a new vehicle.

Updates

In the last few years, the changes to the Avalon have been fairly minimal, and that trend continues for the 2015 Toyota Avalon. In addition to the standard backup camera, the Avalon Hybrid XLE Touring and Avalon XLE Touring now have a standard Blind Spot Monitor. As of 2015, there is also a new Touring Sport Edition, drive modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), and paddle shifters for V-6 models.

Powertrain

As with previous model years, there are two engine choices when looking at the 2015 Avalon. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that is able to get 268 horsepower. Going with this option will give you 21 mpg in the city, 31 on the highway, and 25 combined*. The other engine is for the Avalon Hybrid, and it is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder (Atkinson-cycle) engine combined with two motors, giving 200 horsepower. It has a surprisingly good performance for a hybrid and is able to get up to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds. The slight decrease in power is made up for by the excellent fuel efficiency: 40 mpg city, 39 on the highway, and 40 combined*.

Safety

As with previous model years of the Avalon, the 2015 model has all of the safety features a driver could want. These include front knee bags and rear side-thorax airbags in addition to the standard ones you would find on competitors. Even the crash test ratings are nearly perfect. As mentioned, every single model has a backup camera to prevent accidents, and the XLE Touring trims (for both engines) now have a standard Blind Spot Monitor. There is also a Rear Cross Traffic Alert for additional safety.

Comfort

The 2015 Toyota Avalon is designed with comfort and luxury in mind, so it should come as no surprise that depending on the trim you select, you will get dozens of comfort features. These include ventilated and heated front seats, rear seats that are heated, perforated leather upholstery, LED daytime running lamps, HID headlamps, an optional Tech Package, and more.
