2016 Toyota Prius Sketches Leaked

Prius is considered to be the bestselling hybrid vehicle in American history, with 1.8 million units sold during its debut 2001 model. Since then Toyota has only improved upon the original – setting records and breaking ceiling like never before. The Toyota Prius has now become a household name – and while looking at the leaked sketches of the newest yet-to-be-released model, that’s not going to change any time soon.

Sketches of what appears to be the 2016 Toyota Prius have appeared on a Taiwanese website, mobile.autonet.com.tw, with information about the newest redesign of the hybrid and its hardware. Obviously, this information is to be taken lightly, but it is all very convincing. Style elements reminiscent of recent Toyota designs, very notably the hydrogen fuel cell-powered Mirai, appear throughout the designs. The information provided suggests that the standard hybrid version and its plug-in variant are shown, insinuating a merge of designs, though there are definitely still distinctions between the two versions.

The fuel economy, as always, will be most pleasing – the standard Prius is stated to have improved its efficiency by eight percent from 50 miles per gallon to 54 mpg*. The slight boost is reportedly attributed to changes to the Hybrid Synergy Drive system.
