Fallen Heroes 5K
This race is going to be a great chance to get out and get some exercise. All the fun will kick off at Lions Club Park on Saturday, April 27. Make sure you’re at the starting line early, because the Fallen Heroes 5K will begin at 8 a.m.
If you want to take part in this race, you can save on registration if you sign up by April 17. That gets you the early bird price of $20 and guarantees you get a t-shirt. But if you miss that deadline, you can still sign up. The cost will be $25 though. You can sign up all the way up to the morning of the race.
And if you love running and live in Killeen, this race is part of the 2019 Cen-Tex Race Series. That means you can get points toward your total for the year 2019. There are races in the series throughout the year in Temple. Copperas Cove, Nolanville, Belton, Harker Heights, and Killeen. Runners receive points based on their finishing place in each of the races. Every race gets a runner between 3 and 18 points depending on their place in their age division.
On January 23, 2020, there will be an awards banquet for participants in the Cen-Tex Race Series. At the banquet, awards will be given for the male and female runners with the most points overall, first place in each age category, and every runner who finishes 12 of the 17 races in the series. So don’t miss your chance to get another one of your required races in and increase your points at the Fallen Heroes 5K!
Even if you aren’t participating in the Cen-Tex Race Series, this is going to be a great event. You can expect food vendors, a vehicle display from the Killeen Police Department, and great Texas spring weather.
