If you’re a fan of home improvement shows, you probably love watching Fixer Upper on HGTV. And luckily here in Killeen, we’re close to Magnolia Market at the Silos, a beautiful market owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper. There’s even a fun event coming up if you’re looking for a good reason to check out the Silos.
Book Launch Event
She may have started on Fixer Upper, but Joanna Gaines has expanded her work to a magazine and several books. Her latest venture is a children’s book called We Are the Gardeners. And you can attend the book launch March 14 and 15 at 5:45 p.m.
Here’s the description of We Are the Gardeners from the book’s website:
In We Are the Gardeners, Joanna and the kids chronicle the adventures of starting their own family garden. From their failed endeavors, obstacles to overcome (bunnies that eat everything!), and all the knowledge they’ve gained along the way, the Gaines family shares how they learned to grow a happy, successful garden. As it turns out, trying something new isn’t always easy, but the hardest work often yields the greatest reward. There are always new lessons waiting to be learned in the garden!
And you can be one of the first to get your hands on a copy of this book at the family-friendly book launch. Get tickets online for either March 14 or March 15. Prices vary depending on if the ticket holder is a child or an adult and if it includes a signed book or not. Kids who attend will receive a small pot and seeds to start their very own garden.
Once the big day arrives, you’ll want to be sure to head over to the silos by 5:45. That’s when the gates will open to ticketholders. Events will begin at 6:30, and the evening will be hosted by Sam Ponder.
While you’re there, check out everything else the grounds have to offer! Everything will be open and available including food trucks and shops. Silos Baking Co. closes at 6 p.m., its normal closing time, so be sure to head there first if you want to check it out.
And if you want to make a weekend out of it, the book launch coincides with Spring at Silos. During the day you can enjoy a vendor fair, food trucks, and other daytime activities. Admission is free.
