New Toyota Headquarters Headed to the Great State

Toyota Plano National Headquarters

North American Toyota grows once more as the brand announces a plan for a new campus in Plano, Texas. Toyota unveiled architectural renderings of the headquarters that will employ at least 4,000 new workers at a state-of-the-art facility. The designs were developed by Corgan Associates, a Dallas-based firm whose projects have included major airport terminals, hospitals and schools as well as several other corporate headquarters buildings in the Dallas area. In March, Toyota selected Dallas-based Austin Commercial as general contractor in charge of developing the site. Construction on the 2.1 million square foot campus is anticipated to be completed by the first quarter of 2017.

The campus renderings consist of seven eco-friendly glass and limestone buildings, a thing of architectural beauty. The environmentally sensitive campus will include dining fitness and conference facilities – as well as a pharmacy. The campus will allow Toyota to consolidate its major divisions – marketing, sales, engineering, finance and corporate services – into one location. The company’s headquarters are currently located in Torrance, California, with different branches spread out throughout the country.

Toyota announced in April 2014 its plans to uproot its North American headquarters in search for a better solution, and as part of a larger reoganization campaign taking place within the company. Some branches of the company will be consolidated elsewhere, like the engineering and product-development operations that will convene in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
