Toyota LogoToyota considers its customers a top priority. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. is announcing a voluntary safety recall of select Tacoma pickup trucks built this year.

Approximately 4,000 Tacoma four-cylinder pickups, model year 2013-2014 are being recalled. The recall is being conducted to address potentially faulty engine value springs produced by one of two suppliers due to manufacturing equipment maintenance problems at the time the part was made.

In the involved vehicles, the engine valve springs could develop cracks, and may break overtime. In the event this does occur, abnormal noise and rough engine performance may be noticed. There is a chance the engine could fail and stop while the vehicle is in motion.

All known owners will be notified via first class mail. Owners will be instructed to return the involved vehicle to their Toyota dealer.
